Bio:
Ela was raised in England and Israel and has lived in the Bay Area, CA and the Big Island, HI, before marrying into Alaska. Aside from holding Masters' degrees in Linguistics and Classical Literature, she has worked as a farmer, beekeeper and chef, and continues to study ancient ecology for what it might teach us now.

She is going into the first year of her MFA at the Rainier Writing Workshop, working on two poetry collections, and is currently involved in a dictionary translation project and another involving 16th-century church documents.

Audience:
I work with young writers (elementary and secondary school), community writers.
Special Interests:
I have a particular interest in Nutritional research and food writing, translation, wilderness/ecology.
